Bates cotton bedspread early 1900s Lovely antique Bates cotton bedspread from the early 1900s. This spread measures 82 inches square, along the side are the Bates crown with the Bates name inside one either side of the crown it states Pat. #4 182. The design is of swags, floral wreaths, along with flower swags and dots., the edges are machine stitched . There are 2 small stains about pea size, the spread is otherwise in excellent condition, I have washed it and dried it outside in our fresh New Hampshire air and sunshine so its ready to use on your bed!. This is a heavy substantial bedspread and should wear like the proverbial iron.

8072

Rare early handmade linen duvet cover c1700s Rare early handmade linen duvet cover c1700s. This white linen duvet cover (yes, they did make duvets in the 1700s) measures 48 by 72 inches the weaving and construction is done by hand with teensy stitches and 18th century construction note the finely done reinforcement of the end opening and no raw edges (I show close-ups of these in the pics), all seams are turned and beautifully stitched something typically seen in 18th century linens where items were made to last for generations and were considered quite valuable household items. Consider the skill and labor involved start to finish! There is a red hand embroidered JJ 20 at one end. The weaving is top notch with the threads closely placed, so the result is a smooth fine fabric, not at all coarse. This duvet is in remarkable condition, I have washed and pressed it. This duvet has that certain soft, supple cool hand that only early line has. All the linens I got from this collection are 18th century.
Circa: 1700s
Condition: used, excellent
Size: 48 by 72 inches

4956

Cotton bedspread hand appliqued embr. morning glories 1930 This is a cotton bedspread with hand appliquéd morning Glories and lace circa 1930's. This bedspread measures 74 by 103 inches, it will fit a 3/4 or a full bed, it is shown on a queen bed. The delightful patter shows colorful morning glories hand appliquéd and embellished with hand embroidered details and tendrils in the center of the spread and the head of it, lovely handwork. All the stitching is done by hand expect that the lace is machine stitched to the hem, this I believe was added at a later time and would be easy to remove if one wished to. There are a few brown spots in one area (some of these are pictured) the spread is otherwise in excellent condition, I have washed and pressed it. The cotton is of medium weight and quite sturdy. I love the cheery colors!

6236

Antique cotton chenille bedspread sirca early 1900s Antique cotton chenille bedspread, circa early 1900s. This white cotton bedspread measures 82 by 104 inches, the design is a wave or shell type, it reminds me of summer cottages at the beach. finish of the edges; two sides are turned and stitched, the top is a selvedge edge, the bottom has slightly rounded off corners. The rounded corners I would say are likely not original as they have cotton binding covering the edge, this is well done. You can't see this from the top as the binding tape was stitched to the edge, turned and stitched on the bottom side. There is a quarter size light stain, the spread is otherwise in excellent condition, I have washed it so it is fresh and ready for use.

The spread has scalloped edges heavily hand embroidered with flowers, and leaflets with cutwork diamonds and swags, in the center is a hand embroidered cartouche in which one could have a monogram if desired. 8123

Linen damask and lace bedspread Provenance Linen damask and lace bedspread Provenance. This white circa 1900 bedspread measures 86 by 102 inches the edge is bordered by 1.5 inches of handmade lace. There is a large 5 inch square hand monogram at one end that reads MCG (Mary Goddard?), the damask design had lovely calla lilies with a background of lilly of the valley and a cartouche of water lilies centered just above the monogram. The bedspread is in excellent, strong condition, I have washed and pressed it. The damask fabric is of the highest quality, very smooth and substantial. This bedspread came from the Iselin estate, a direct descendent of Charles Oliver Iselin Captain of the winning yachts of the America’s Cup fame in Premium Point, New Rochelle NY in the early 1900s who traveled widely and enjoyed high quality items. When I bought them, these linens were stored in the best (Goyard and Louis Vuitton trunks no less). I will include some family history to the buyer when I ship the bedspread. This piece is beautiful, my pictures do not do this justice!
