Handmade Point Argentan needle lace circa 1780. There are 2 lengths of this ecru French lace, one measures 2.

The mesh of this lace is made using tiny buttonhole stitches that you need magnification to see, the design elements are organic. This lace requires skill and a great deal of time to make. This lace is museum quality, One piece has a repair on each end and 2 small broken bridges, the other piece has 2 small stains, they are otherwise in excellent, strong condition. This came from a family that has been dealing in lace since the mid 1800s, this was part of their private collection, I will give the provenance to the buyer. This is a rare, difficult lace to find. |
