Weighty French linen sheet circa late 1800s. This cream linen sheet measures 81 by 128 inches, the hems are stitched by hand, there is a small hand embroidered AA monogram in one corner. The linen is quite sturdy and heavy as is typical of French linen sheets, it isn't the really coarse linen but a weighty closly woven linen. There is a 1/2 inch hand darn in the center and a small hole about 4mm wide, there is a 1 inch hand darn, a pea size darn (these are well done) and a poorly done repair about an inch accross that is pictured, these are all in the same area which is at one end, the sheet is otherwise good, I have washed it, the linen is strong. |
