Circa: circa 1800s Condition: has flaws Size: 28 by 56 inches including the 6 inch fringe in that measurement Color: white
Linen towel with handmade whitework, lace and knotted fringe circa 1800s. This white linen towel measures 28 by 56 inches including the 6 inch fringe in that measurement. Even though the towel has several hand darns in the linen, the lacework is just gorgeous! I think I would remove the whitework and lace section from the ends and either stitch it to another towel, or I would use it for a project, its really quite fab, there are beautiful hand embroidered designs embellished with hand done needle lace, then intricate hand knotting and long fringe, top notch handwork. There are several hand darns on each side and one hole that has not been mended, there are occational broken bridges in the lacework, the fancy ends are otherwise good. I am pricing this for the lace. |
