Large, wide very finely done Limerick lace flounce, circa 1830s measures 17.5 by 4yards 4 inches, machine made lace with designs added by hand with a needle, beautiful handwork, a superb example of this type of lace at its best. There are flaws, a 3 inch repair, poorly done, a 2.5 inch L shaped tear, several tiny holes in the mesh at the top and 2 1/2 inch holes near the bottom, its otherwise good, the lace is very soft and light. |
