Lovely fragment of hand loomed crepe silk fabric circa 1900 or perhaps earlier, it looks Japanese and another silk frament. This fabric measures 27 by 12 inches, the design elements have flowers, butterflies and a patterned back ground, the effect is lovely! The fabric is fairly thick with the leaves and butterflies raised and one of the flowers done in teal green, the back ground is navy, I love the texture of this (you can see it in the close-up picture)! The second fragment measures 8.5 by 9 inches, it is probably mid 1900s. The fabrics are very strong and in excellent condition. This would make a great pillow of frame beautifully! |
