Large French Metis sheet with drawn work and hand embroidery circa early 1900s. Metis is a blend of linen and cotton used by Europeans to make an exceptionally strong fabric. This white sheet measures 93 inches wide and 128 inches in length, it would fit a Queen nicely, the hems are hand stitched, the rows of drawnwork most of the way across the sheet with a turndown with simple large embroidered dots as embellishment, very French. There are 2 small hand darns and 2 small stains in the bottom corner, the sheet is otherwise in very good condition, I have washed and pressed it. |
