| Rare, fabulous figural handmade Cantu lace panel de-accessioned from a museum circa last quarter 1800s. This cream lace panel measures 11 by 22.5 inches, the design elements show a Putti holding an urn in an upraised hand with an arrow in the other in the center beside gracious trees with birds in the corners. The figures are remarkably detailed, the fingers are layered for extra depth and the folds of her garment are clearly defined, gorgeous, FINE handwork in Cantu lace! This piece was de-accessioned by the Woodmere Art Collection and was part of the collection of Charles Knox Smith who was the original owner of the museum building. The panel is in excellent condition. it would frame beautifully, or could be used in a project as it is quite strong. |
