| Lovely linen sheet with hand embroidery and monogram circa early 1900s. This white sheet measures 88 by 90 inches so will fit a queen bed, the top hem is hand stitched with a row of drawnwork, the bottom was stitched on a treadle machine. The top of the sheet has a beautifully embroidered ALJ monogram with dainty little twining flowers and vines around the letters above finely embroidered flowers with little sanding stitches sprays of flowers and more drawnwork, the handwork is well done by a skilled needlewoman. There are about 6 teensy hand darns and 2 small light stains at the bottom, the sheet is otherwise in very good condition, I have washed and pressed it. The linen is strong, of high quality with a high thread count and medium-fine weight. |
