| Beautiful linen appliqué sheet set from Madeira circa 1930s. This set consists of a sheet measuring 68 by 112 inches and two pillow shams 27.5 by 28.5 inches taking a pillows 24.5 by 25 inches. The set is white with pinky-peach appliqué work hand stitched to the sheet using tiny little stitches, in fact all the stitching is hand done, the hems, the back, the button holes, everything! The appliqué design elements are of stylized leaves or feathers that look like little waves that go across the top of the sham and sheet with scallops on the other 3 side of the sham and on the long turndown of the sheet. One of the shams is faded, perhaps it was used of washed more than the rest of the set, one sham has a small faint stain, the sheet has 4 small hand darns, the set is otherwise in good condition, I have washed and pressed it. The linen is of the highest quality, its is an incredibly fine summer weight with a high thread count and a buttery soft drapey hand. They don't make linen like this anymore! |
