Handmade linen and figural lace center cloth or small tablecloth circa early 1900s. This white tablecloth measures 15.5 by 16.5, the design elements show squirrels at the top corners in filet lace, the bottom corners have Cluny lace baskets, centered on either side of the middle are Greek mythological figures (Cockatrice?) in handmade filet lace, there are also cutwork and embroidered branches with diamonds of Cluny lace, the cloth is edged with more Cluny lace hand stitched to the linen. The blunt ended wheaters would indicate this was made either in France or the UK. There is one teensy hole at the edge, the tablecloth is otherwise in very good condition, I have washed and pressed it. |
