| More pictures of item #5547a Fabulous linen and Appenzel lace banquet tablecloth with 24 matching napkins circa early 1900s. The tablecloth measures 68 by 206 inches the napkins are 20 inches square, the napkins have a hand embroidered figure of lady in 18th century garb surrounded by hand embroidered scrolls and flowers in one corner , the napkin edges are scalloped with mosaic lace edged in little buttonhole stitches, all done by hand. The tablecloth has medallions of figures of ladies and gentlemen in 18th century garb done in appenzel lacework, the corners have deer and the center medallions have a scene with a dog chasing a rabbit through the forest, these are all done by hand with embroidered details. Along the scalloped edges are appenzel ribbons and swags, urns of flowers and bows, very lovely! A tremendous amount of hand work went into the making of this fine linen and lace tablecloth, the linen is a high quality with a marvelous hand and drape. The tablecloth has a quarter sized well done hand darn near one of the gentleman figures, you can just make it out in the picture that shows the man, its slightly to the right of him. There is one napkin with a spec on it and there is one tiny spec on the tablecloth, the set is otherwise in excellent condition, I have washed and pressed it, the linen is strong and supple. Large tablecloths like this are quite hard to find, and much harder still with 24 napkins to match! This is a gorgeous set! Item # 5547a shows more pictures of this tablecloth and napkin set (I can only have 8 pictures per item so I have to break it up this way when an item requires more pics to show it properly). |
