This is a FABULOUS linen cutwork lace and hand embroidered wine and cheese set from Madeira circa 1930-50s. This 7 pc set consists of a runner measuring 14 by 40 inches, 3 mats 9 by 11.5 and 3 mats 5 by 10 inches. The fine cutwork design elements are of hanging clusters of grapes with various sized leaves, vines and tendrils, heavily hand embroidered, gorgeous handwork! Every time I look at this set I notice something different. The small mats were used more often then the rest of the set so they are a bit lighter in color, the set is otherwise in excellent condition, I have washed and pressed it. I rarely find wine and cheese sets like this! |
