| This is a linen damask napkin (could be used as a small tablecloth) with a hand embroidered Crown and G monogram woven with the coat of arms of George II of the Princely House of Saxe-Meiningen (HH Reigning Duke George II of Saxe-Meiningen and Hildburghausen) circa very early 1900's. This piece measures 32 by 37 inches, the hems are hand stitched with teensy almost invisible stitches, lovely handwork. There is a fabulous damask coat of arms in the center, it shows lions en rampant, eagles, and 6 helmets each with a different representation on it, quite interesting! This napkin is in excellent condition, I have washed and pressed them. The linen is of the highest quality as one would expect linens owned by royalty to be, incredible hand and drape! This would also show beautifully framed! This is a rare piece with this pattern on it. |
