| This is a WIDE figural Neo classical banquet size damask tablecloth circa late 1800's. This tablecloth measures 88 by 172 inches, the hems are turned and hand stitched, the tablecloth was custom made for this size, NOT cut from a bolt. The damask pattern around the outer edge shows a lyre in the corners with scrolls and acanthus leaves flanked by Griffon heads (these are pictured) the inner pattern has a wide band of scrolls, laurel wreaths with urns, lyres, helmets and pillars with winged dragons on top very mythical Greek classic. There is one tiny well done hand darn about pea size at the end, the tablecloth is otherwise in excellent condition, I have washed and pressed it. This is a very high quality tablecloth, the linen is smooth with that silky feeling and wonderful drapiness only found in fine antique table linens in a wide width that is hard to find. |
