This is a set of 12 linen napkins with handmade mosaic lace circa 1890-1920. These napkins measure 17 inches square, the edges are handmade drawnwork lace made from drawing threads from the linen and wrapping it with thread for strength, the edges are then stitched with close buttonhole stitches by hand, beautiful work! In one corner of each napkin is a beribboned basket of flowers in mosaic lace. There is a small tear at the edge of one napkin and a few slightly frayed edges, they are otherwise in very good condition, I have washed and pressed them. The linen is of a very high quality, it is closely woven, smooth and cool to the touch. |
