This is a length of black silk lace yardage and a Tambour lace veil from the 1800’s from the Pallinsburn House estate in Northumberland (for more information on this important estate see the article on our home page). The black lace measures 3.75 yards in length and is 2 inches wide, it is in very good condition, the silk is still soft and strong. The lace veil measures aprox 38 inches square, the Tambour stitched edge is 2 inches deep. This veil is only in fair to poor condition, while the lace is soft, there are a some large holes and a few smaller ones, parts of the Tambour edging could be salvaged for something, I am pricing for the silk yardage. |
