| This is a GORGEOUS WIDE Limerick lace flounce with hand embroidered flowers from the mid 1800’s de-accessioned from a museum. This lace measures 18.5 inches wide and is 70 inches long, it is made using machine made net upon which the designs are hand embroidered, this one has flowering vines and beautiful roses with filling stitches called sanding which is seen on the finest linens, it is time consuming to do but gives a marvelous 3-d effect to the finished work! There is just one teensy hole in the mesh, the lace is otherwise in excellent condition, it is the light tea color of antique lace of this age. This is one of the finest examples of Limerick lace that I have seen, it would be fabulous on a gown! |
