5547a
Figural linen Appenzel lace banquet tablecloth with 24 napkins early 1900s Fabulous linen and Appenzel lace banquet tablecloth with 24 matching napkins circa early 1900s. The tablecloth measures 68 by 206 inches the napkins are 20 inches square, the napkins have a hand embroidered figure of lady in 18th century garb surrounded by hand embroidered scrolls and flowers in one corner , the napkin edges are scalloped with mosaic lace edged in little buttonhole stitches, all done by hand. The tablecloth has medallions of figures of ladies and gentlemen in 18th century garb done in appenzel lacework, the corners have deer and the center medallions have a scene with a dog chasing a rabbit through the forest, these are all done by hand with embroidered details. Along the scalloped edges are appenzel ribbons and swags, urns of flowers and bows, very lovely! A tremendous amount of hand work went into the making of this fine linen and lace tablecloth, the linen is a high quality with a marvelous hand and drape. The tablecloth has a quarter sized well done hand darn near one of the gentleman figures, you can just make it out in the picture that shows the man, its slightly to the right of him. There is one napkin with a spec on it and there is one tiny spec on the tablecloth, the set is otherwise in excellent condition, I have washed and pressed it, the linen is strong and supple. Large tablecloths like this are quite hard to find, and much harder still with 24 napkins to match! This is a gorgeous set! Item # 5547b shows more pictures of this tablecloth and napkin set (I can only have 8 pictures per item so I have to break it up this way when an item requires more pics to show it properly, they still don't do it justice!).

6007
Figural linen damask set 2 tablecloths 12 large napkins w/ provenance c1900 Fine figural linen damask set of 2 tablecloths and 12 large formal napkins with hand embroidered monogram and family provenance circa about 1900. The soft white linen set consists of 2 matching linen tablecloths measuring 76 by 86 (would work on a round, or oval as well as rectangular table) and 12 napkins 27 by 28 inches. The damask pattern has delightful birds, butterflies, bees and even a caterpillar in a garden with water lilies, roses, ferns, anemones, grasses, tulips, and vines, absolutely lovely! In one corner of the tablecloths is a large 4.5 by 5.5 inch hand embroidered monogram that reads EMB, the same monogram is in one corner of each napkin, really fine handwork! One tablecloth has a beautifully done hand darn about 1/2 in diameter and some light fold lines, the other tablecloth has 2 very small light stains smaller than a baby pea, they are otherwise in excellent condition, 2 napkins have a small light stain, 3 have a light gray smudge in the corner, they are otherwise in excellent condition, I have washed and pressed the set. The linen is of high quality, smooth with a weighty hand and drape. One could use both tablecloths on a long table, or on 2 smaller tables. The original owner was the daughter of a well to do industrialist, I will send a copy of the provenance as told to me by the family along with the set. I love the birds and the caterpillar is rare.

2 Linen damask tablecloths 13 large napkins set circa 1880s Linen damask tablecloths and 13 large napkins circa 1880s. This white linen set consists of 2 tablecloths measuring 80 by 96 inches and 13 napkins 24 by 25 inches. The design elements are lovely with ferns, species roses and trellis, the napkins have a hand embroidered EMB monogram in one corner and the tablecloths have the same monogram at each end. One tablecloth has 3 specs in one corner and a few broken threads in another corner, the other tablecloth has a tiny hole in one end, and a similar tiny hole near the center, they are otherwise good, the napkins are lovely but shabby, 1 has 3 hand darns and a couple small holes, 1 has 2 hand darns, and 5 have small holes, so, 3 napkins I would call really shabby, the other 10 are only mildly shabby, still, they are quite usable.

6096
Set 2 linen double damask tablecloths 16 formal napkins prov. late 1800s Large set of 2 linen double damask tablecloths and 16 formal napkins with hand embroidered monogram and provenance circa late 1800s. This substantial white linen set consists of 2 tablecloths 80 by 88 inches each and 16 napkins 28 by 30 inches, the damask pattern is classic with urns, flowers, swags and fruit, very lovely, all pieces have a gorgeously hand embroidered EMB monogram in one corner, really fine handwork! The napkins are huge! One tablecloth has an expert hand darn, one has a teensy hole about 3mm near the end, 2 napkins have a light line, 3 have a small spot and 1 napkin has 4 very small stains, I did not see any holes when I looked them over, the set is in very good condition, I have washed and pressed them. I will send the provenance as told to me with the set. Large set of big napkins like this are REALLY hard to find, if you have a really long table both cloths could be used overlapped slightly. This size would also work on round tables, square or rectangular. This is a high end set, the good stuff!
Circa: late 1800s
Condition: very good
