This length of lace measures 6 inches by 4 yards (144 inches), the lace is typical of Milanese and eastern european types with its meandering design, the bridges are continuous with the work with fine linen threads which would indicate 18th century origin. Milanese lace handmade circa 1700s This is a length of handmade Milanese lace probably from the 1700s. This lace measures 5 inches in width and is 52 inches long and is made if linen threads. There are a couple of broken brides, it is otherwise in very good condition. I believe the wheaters were added sometime in the late 1800s, old laces were often changed to reflect the fashion trends of the times. This lace had that wonderful cool buttery feel of OLD linen. The lace work is very close .

Very early linen lace handmade 17th or early 18th century! This is a length of very early handmade linen bobbin lace probably 17th or possibly early 18th century. This lace measures 2.5 inches wide and is 3+ yards long, I am only counting 3 yards as the extra foot or so more at one end is damaged, the rest of the lace is in very good –excellent condition. This lace has the coolness (almost cold to the touch) of the very early linen laces, it came from a museum lot of early laces of the 16th and 17th century. The braiding of the lace is tight yet the hand feel is buttery and smooth one of the hallmarks of QUALITY linen. I don’t find lace like this very often!
Circa: 17th or early 18th century
Condition: very good-excellent
Size: 2.5 inches by 3+yards
Color: cream

Early handmade figural lace from homespun linen circa early 1700's This is a length of early handmade figural lace made from homespun fabric circa early 1700's. This lace measures 10 by 110 inches (3 yards 2 inches) the lace is made using homespun linen fabric and removing unwanted threads to make designs, the remaining threads are well wrapped to add strength and become part of the design. The designs are classic for the time period showing dolphins one either side of urns full of flowers with waves along the edges. There are 4 small thin spots, in one area that are pictured, the lace is otherwise in very good condition, I have washed and pressed it. The linen is soft and weighty with the very cool buttery feeling of very early linen.

Handmade Alencon lace from France circa 1820-30s Lovely handmade Alencon lace from France circa 1820-30s. This light tea colored lace measures 2.75 by 34 inches, it is entirely handmade, including the mesh, the design elements are botanical with pretty flowers, teensy little needle lace centers, stems, leaves and interesting needle lace at the edges, very fine handwork as one would expect from this type of lace. There are several small well done repairs in the mesh, mostly at the top, it is otherwise in very good condition and could still be used on a garment if gently used. This is getting harder to find.
Circa: 1820-30s

6451
Antique handmade Ayrshire whitework lace panel and flounce circa 1800 Early handmade Ayrshire whitework lace panel and flounce from the estate of Edith and Beatrix Wharton circa about 1800. The ecru fabric is hand loomed cotton, the embroidery is all done by hand as well. The flounce measures 3.5 by 92 inches, the panel is 33 inches at the bottom and 30 inches on the longest side, design elements are floral with fine, needle lace filling lace in the center of the flowers. The panel has many period hand darns and holes. The flounce has 4 hand stitched joins, 2 are finely done and original, 2 were done at a much later date and are rather clumsy when compared to the fine original handwork, there are perhaps combination of perhaps 2 dozen holes and period darns in the flounce, it is otherwise good. Edith was a well known, wealthy writer during the gilded age in the US.
Circa: late 1700-1800
Condition: fair to good
Size: 3.5 by 92 inches and 30 by 33
Color: ecru

Early handmade Milanese bobbin lace flounce circa late 1600s or early 1700s Early handmade Milanese bobbin lace flounce circa late 1600s or early 1700s. This cream linen lace measures 4.75 by 3 yards 11 inches (119 inches), the design has a repeating pattern. Unfortunately this lace has many holes throughout as can be seen in the pictures, I would call this poor condition, it would best be used as a study piece, good for teaching as it could be cut into smaller pieces and handed out, you could get a lot of study pieces out of this.
Circa: late 1600s or early 1700s
Condition: poor, best for study
Size: 4.75 by 3 yards 11 inches (119 inches)
