5312
Rare argentan lace collar circa 1700s all handmade Handmade Argentan needle lace collar circa late quarter of the 1700s. A museum de-accession, this collar measures 13.5 across the top, 43 inches across the bottom and 5.25 inches deep, this did not start out life as a collar but has been re-made into a collar, Argentan lace was so precious that it was often recycled into other laces. The mesh is hand made using tiny little buttonhole stitches that are so small its difficult to see the threads even with 10x magnification, as my camera has better magnification, I got a close-up so the tiny stitches can be seen. The design elements are floral with dainty flowers filled with minute filling stitches of various designs edges with hundreds of teensy little picots. The lace is in good condition, I saw 3 repairs and as mentioned earlier, the lace is pieced (4 pieces) to make the collar but it is all the same type of lace. his lace is extremely collectible and very hard to find in any condition!
Circa: 1700s
Condition: used
Color: Ivory

3973
Pair lace sleeves with 17th century Italian lace de-accessioned from museum This is a pair of beautiful lace sleeves with early 17th century Italian lace de-accessioned from a museum. These sleeves still have the tags on them, one side states 17th century Italian lace, the other side gives the donors name which is Cabot. The sleeves measure 17 inches in length 7.5 inches in diameter at the top and 3.75 inches in diameter at the cuff, there are 7 lace covered buttons on each cuff These sleeves were made sometime in the late 1800’s with early handmade lace from the 1600’s (handmade lace being time consuming to make and always expensive and is often recycled over the centuries). The lace is in excellent condition, one of the sleeves has the top lace almost completely removed, it would be fairly easy to stitch it back on if desired. These are gorgeous sleeves that could still be used for a very special gown!

4130
RARE Figural homesoun linen drawn work lace 16th or 17th century This is a length of handmade linen figural drawn work lace most probably from the 17th century. This lace measures 11.5 inches deep and is 28 inches long. There are 3 groups of figures, one shows 2 angels holding a crown over what appear to be initials, looks rather heraldic to me. The next figure shows an animal intertwined with scrolls and flowers typical of the period, and the next section shows flowers in an urn. There are some broken bridges as you can see in the pictures, the lace at the edge was added at a later date. I have washed and pressed this piece. This came from a lot that was de-accessioned by a northeastern museum.
