Handmade Alencon lace with black silk ribbon late 1700s-1800 Lovely handmade Alencon lace with black silk velvet ribbon circa late 1700s-1800. There are 2 lengths of lace, one is 2.25 by 24 inches and the other is 2.25 by 23 inches, they both have a length of black velvet ribbon stitched to the top. The design elements are floral with dainty flowers, stems and leaves , lovely handwork! One piece is in good condition with a tear near the end, the other piece is in fair condition with about a dozen holes in the mesh. Still the lace is lovely for those who do not require perfection. I particularly like the pattern of this lace!

5535
Early handmade linen Flemish bobbin lace circa late 1600s Late 17th century (1600s) handmade linen Flemish lace de-accessioned from a museum with tag. This lovely lace has a strip of 3/4 inch hand woven linen at one edge, the lace is hand stitched to the linen using tiny stitches in 3 lengths as follows one length 35 inches, one length 92 inches and one length 36 inches, the total is 163 inches (4.5 yards), it is 4.25 inches deep including the linen fabric which was most likely made at the same time period the lace was. The museum tag reads Flemish Lace altar piece late 17th century. The lace design had the swirling patterns typical of that time period. There are a few small holes in the lace, but it is in remarkable condition for its age, its still pliant and strong. This is a marvelous example of very early linen bobbin lace!

Handmade Burano lace pieces circa late 1700s-about 1810 Lot of handmade Burano needle lace circa late 1700s to about 1810. There are 4 pieces of lace, one (the top piece) has finished ends, it measures 1.75 by 21 inches, there are about 6 tiny holes in the mesh, the second piece measures 11.5 by 1.75, it has one small hole, the 3rd is 12.5 by 1.75 its all good, and the last piece is 10.5 b7 2.25, its good as well. The lace mesh has the little fish hook lace and hazy appearance of Burano, but it isn't the stuff made in the late 1800's, this is much earlier. This is nice lace, the top piece looks like it could be a collar since its finished all the way around.
Circa: late 1700s to 1810

Handmade Point D' Angleterre lace tie circa late 1700s Handmade Point D' Angleterre lace Tie circa late 1700s. A museum de-accession, this unusually long lace tie measures 4.25 inches wide at the widest, 1.5 inches wide at the narrowest, and is 86 inches long, both ends are finished so it was made to wrap around and then tie, at this length perhaps a waist? This lace has the hand made Droschel mesh with Brussels lace floral designs. There are 4 teensy little broken bridges in the mesh and some small well done repairs, it is otherwise in good condition. Rather unusual shape with this length.
Circa: late 1700s
Condition: good
Size: 86 inches long
Color: cream

5601
Handmade Point D' Angleterre lace circa mid 1700s Early handmade Point D' Angleterre lace circa mid 1700s. This lace measures 2.25 at the narrowest, 3.25 at the deepest and is 37.5 inches long. The lace has Droschel mesh as well as a 4 to 2 strand braided fish hook type of mesh that is probably a forbearer of the Point de Gaze mesh, its quite unusual to me. The design elements are floral with a number of interesting filling stitched used to good effect. There are some broken bridges and several repairs, some of these repairs are very good and some of them are not so good, however, this is a great study piece for some of the unusual stitches used as well as being early lace which is always in demand.
Circa: mid 1700s
Condition: for study
Size: 37.5 inches long

5616
Early Binche or Valenciennes lace circa 1720s Very early Binche or Valenciennes lace edging extremely fine handwork, circa 1720s. This museum de-accession lace measures 2.25 inches deep and 96.5 inches in length. The lace has the distinctive 5 hole mesh and snow grounds used in both laces during this time period, I lean towards Valenciennes as the designs are quite distinct in this lace. This is beautiful lace with amazing handwork and fine threads, there are 2 very small holes at one end and a bit of foxing, the lace is otherwise in remarkably fine condition, it has been well kept and is soft, pliant and strong. Its so hard to get these early laces in good lengths, in fine condition such as this!
Circa: 1720s

6119
Early antique Coraline lace circa late 1600s Very early handmade Coraline lace circa 1600s. There are 2 lengths of this ecru lace, one measures 16 by 2.75 and the other has been stitched together at the ends but will open to the same measurements as the other. This lace is made using incredibly small stitches, its a needle lace so it was done one stitch at a time with a single needle, think of the skill and handwork involved! The lace is in very good condition, there are some repairs and some very small breaks as one might expect from lace that is over 300 years old, but its still supple and strong all things considered, it could still be used today. Shipping is FREE!
Circa: late 1600s
Condition: very good
Size: 2 pcs 2.75 by 16 inches
