5253
Hand woven towel or scarf probably Greek or Bosnian sheer fabric 19th century hand woven towel or scarf probably Greek or Bosnian. This piece measures 17 by 64 inches with 1 inch long fringe at the ends, the sheer fabric feels like a silk and cotton blend with vegetal dyed cotton decorative threads woven into the fabric at each end, intriguing geometric patterns. The colors are off in my pictures as the colors are no where near that bright, the reds are actually a faded burgundy with gold and pink. As the pictures clearly show, there are areas in the sheer fabric that are damaged, the ends however are in remarkably good condition probably due to the extra thickness of the designs woven into the fabric, the fringe is also in good condition. I have not washed this piece as I know most collectors would prefer this as is.
Circa: late 1800s or early 1900s
Condition: used
Color: cream, red

5256
Wool shawl hand embroidered likely from Kashmir circa mid 1900s Blue gray wool shawl with hand embroidery in shades of gold and lilac most likely made in Kashmir for the tourist trade in the mid 1900s (there was a slip of paper with the scarves I bought from this lot that said they were from kashmir, these came from the estate of a wealthy socialite who did much world travel in the 40s and 50s). This shawl measures 26 by 72 with 2 inch fringe, the hand embroidered designs are very lovely. This scarf is in excellent condition, just a very few little specs from storage. I have not washed it. The wool is very soft so it might be a cashmere blend.
Circa: mid 1900s
Condition: used
Color: cream, slate

Hand looked crepe silk fragment circa 1900 and brocade fragment Lovely fragment of hand loomed crepe silk fabric circa 1900 or perhaps earlier, it looks Japanese and another silk frament. This fabric measures 27 by 12 inches, the design elements have flowers, butterflies and a patterned back ground, the effect is lovely! The fabric is fairly thick with the leaves and butterflies raised and one of the flowers done in teal green, the back ground is navy, I love the texture of this (you can see it in the close-up picture)! The second fragment measures 8.5 by 9 inches, it is probably mid 1900s. The fabrics are very strong and in excellent condition. This would make a great pillow of frame beautifully!
Circa: 1900
Condition: excellent
Size: 12 by 27
Color: navy, teal, cream

This natural linen colored towel measures 17 by 27.5 inches, the designs are hand embroidered in silk and silver metal, the embroidery is beautifully done and looks the same on both sides in vivid pinks, blue, green, olive and cream. There are a few small loose threads at the bottom, this towel appears to be unused and is in excellent condition. These towels were often used to wrap special gifts in.

6255
Hand woven Japanese silk brocade obi circa 1700s Gorgeous hand woven Japanese silk brocade obi circa 1700s. This piece measures 12.75 inches wide (25.5 if opened flat) and is 77 inches long, my guess is that it was cut at some point and hemmed perhaps to display. The brocade type is discontinuous, as seen from the back, the threads are only in small areas around the pattern, they do not run to the edge of the fabric, this was popular in weavings of the 1700s. The colors are an antique gold back ground with muted green vegetation with copper. lavender, slate blue and cream flowers, very beautiful and skilled weaving! There is some age oxidation and some small areas of shattering at the fold line which is not at all surprising in a textile this age, the fabric is otherwise in good condition and would display beautifully!
Circa: 1700s
Condition: good
Size: 25.5 by 77 inches
Color: antique gold, green, copper, lavender, slate blue, cream

Japanese Meiji era hand loomed silk brocade obi fabric Stunning Japanese Meiji era hand loomed silk brocade obi fabric circa about 1900. This heavy silk continuous brocade fabric measures 27.5 by 4 yards 16 inches (160 inches) the colors are vibrant with lots of gold metallic thread . In the repeating pattern I see the Imperial carriage, open fans, half wheel, venerable Maple and Pine trees and chrysanthemums, the colors and patterns are crisp and lively, the gold adds shine and movement, beautiful work! This fabric would have been quite expensive, even then! There is some grubbiness here and there from long storage, the fabric is otherwise in excellent condition. This fabric is just gorgeous!
