Handmade linen point de Venise needle lace circa late 17th century Early handmade linen Point de Venise needle lace piece museum de-accession probably late 17th century. This lace piece measures 7.5 inches deep at the center and is 22 inches long at the top and 30 inches long at the bottom, it is early lace recycled into another use in the 19th century, since early lace has always been very expensive this was a common practice. The lacework is quite fine and the organic design elements and the spacing of the bridges are typical of those from the 17th century, the lace also has the cold feel of very early lace. There are some small repairs here and there which is not surprising given the age of the lace, it is still supple and strong with the fluid feel of early lace!

This length of lace measures 6 inches by 4 yards (144 inches), the lace is typical of Milanese and eastern european types with its meandering design, the bridges are continuous with the work with fine linen threads which would indicate 18th century origin. 2310
Bobbin lace handmade silk circa 1850's This is a length of mid 1800's black silk bobbin lace. This handmade lace measures 41 by 5.25 inches, it is made from two 3 inch deep lengths sewn together. There are quite a few holes in this lace which is usually the case of this type of lace as the black dyes at the time were unstable so the lace is fragile and best used for display only.

WIDE Irish Limerick lace flounce hand embroidered mid 1800's gorgeous! This is a GORGEOUS WIDE Limerick lace flounce with hand embroidered flowers from the mid 1800’s de-accessioned from a museum. This lace measures 24 inches deep and is 72 inches long, it is made using machine made net upon which the designs are hand embroidered, this one has flowering vines and beautiful roses with filling stitches called sanding which is seen on the finest linens, it is time consuming to do but gives a marvelous 3-d effect to the finished work! There are just a couple of teensy broken threads in the mesh, the lace is otherwise in excellent condition, it is the light tea color of antique lace of this age. This is one of the finest examples of Limerick lace that I have seen, it would be fabulous on a gown!

4130
RARE Figural homesoun linen drawn work lace 16th or 17th century This is a length of handmade linen figural drawn work lace most probably from the 17th century. This lace measures 11.5 inches deep and is 28 inches long. There are 3 groups of figures, one shows 2 angels holding a crown over what appear to be initials, looks rather heraldic to me. The next figure shows an animal intertwined with scrolls and flowers typical of the period, and the next section shows flowers in an urn. There are some broken bridges as you can see in the pictures, the lace at the edge was added at a later date. I have washed and pressed this piece. This came from a lot that was de-accessioned by a northeastern museum.

4769
WIDE Limerick lace or embroidered net lace flounce circa 1850-1870's This is a gorgeous WIDE Limerick lace flounce with Tambour stitching from the 3rd quarter of the 1800's. This white lace flounce measures 29 inches deep and is 151 inches long, that's 4 yards 7 inches! This lace is made by using machine made net and embroidering the lovely designs onto the net. This piece was cut (and finished stitched at the top to make a finished edge) off a much larger piece, possibly a cathedral length veil judging by the length or perhaps the bottom of a gown however both ends are finished as can be seen in the pictures. There are 6 teensy holes in the mesh of only a stitch or 2 at most, it is otherwise in excellent condition, clean and pressed. This is a beautiful piece!
