RARE handmade Point de Gaze lace veil, shawl or stole circa 1860-80s Gorgeous and RARE handmade Point de Gaze lace stole or veil circa 1860-80s. This ecru lace veil measures 22 by 102 inches, the design elements are floral with large roses with extra petals for a 3-d effect, these are the most sought after type of pt de gaze often referred to as Point de Rose, there are a lot of roses on this piece as well as a nice variety of filling stitches for added interest. Point de Gaze is made by hand with a single needle one stitch at a time, imagine the amount of work that went into this piece! Shawls, stoles and veils of Point de gaze are rare and difficult to come by as this lace was extremely expensive, even then veils like this were special order pieces.
