Tray cloth cotton c1900 hand embroidered This is a circa 1900 cotton tray cloth. This hand embroidered cloth measures 16 by 24 inches, it has scalloped edges with hand embroidered buttonhole stitches, the designs are of ribbons and baskets. There are some small brown spots in the center and a ½ inch tear at the edge, it is otherwise in good condition, I have washed and pressed it.

Linen tray cloth or mat Madiera This is a very lovely linen mat from Madiera circa 1940's. This mat measures 13 by 9.5 inches, the edges are scalloped with hand embroidered buttonhole stitches, there are white appliqued squares at the ends. There is one tiny stain, the mat is otherwise in very good condition, I have washed and pressed it.

2 linen tray cloths circa 1930's simple elegance This is a lot of 2 elegantly simple linen tray cloths from the 1930’s. One tray cloth measures 13 by 21 inches and is in excellent condition, the other measures 16 by 24 and has 4 pinholes, it is otherwise in good condition, I have washed and pressed them. They both have hand stitched hems, one has a row of hand embroidery around the edge.

This charming tray cloth measures 13 by 22 inches, the design shows a tea pot a sugar and creamer and 2 teacups for a spot of tea, the lettering reads "take a cup for auld lang syne" This cloth is in excellent condition, I have washed and pressed it.

These cloths measure 11 by 16.5 and 12.75 and 19 inches, the design elements have little leaf pairs and flowers with a grid or trellis pattern. The tray cloths are in excellent condition, I have washed and pressed them.

Society silk and linen tray cloth with roses circa about 1900 Lovely society silk and linen tray cloth with roses circa about 1900. This white linen tray cloth measures 21 by 29.5 inches, the hems are hand stitched with a row of drawn work, 2 corners have stems of pink species roses and dianthus with more dianthus on the sides. The handwork is first rate with realistic shading and a variety of stitches used to create texture and detail, obviously the work of a skilled embroiderer. There are 2 pinholes in the linen, the piece is otherwise in excellent condition, I have washed and pressed it. Society silk pieces were those pieces done by well to do ladies who had the money and the skill to work in silk, these were the pieces they took with them to work on when they went on social calls and such to show off their needle working skills and were often presented as cherished gifts.
