Click for more detail...
5547a
Figural linen Appenzel lace banquet tablecloth with 24 napkins early 1900s Fabulous linen and Appenzel lace banquet tablecloth with 24 matching napkins circa early 1900s. The tablecloth measures 68 by 206 inches the napkins are 20 inches square, the napkins have a hand embroidered figure of lady in 18th century garb surrounded by hand embroidered scrolls and flowers in one corner , the napkin edges are scalloped with mosaic lace edged in little buttonhole stitches, all done by hand. The tablecloth has medallions of figures of ladies and gentlemen in 18th century garb done in appenzel lacework, the corners have deer and the center medallions have a scene with a dog chasing a rabbit through the forest, these are all done by hand with embroidered details. Along the scalloped edges are appenzel ribbons and swags, urns of flowers and bows, very lovely! A tremendous amount of hand work went into the making of this fine linen and lace tablecloth, the linen is a high quality with a marvelous hand and drape. The tablecloth has a quarter sized well done hand darn near one of the gentleman figures, you can just make it out in the picture that shows the man, its slightly to the right of him. There is one napkin with a spec on it and there is one tiny spec on the tablecloth, the set is otherwise in excellent condition, I have washed and pressed it, the linen is strong and supple. Large tablecloths like this are quite hard to find, and much harder still with 24 napkins to match! This is a gorgeous set! Item # 5547b shows more pictures of this tablecloth and napkin set (I can only have 8 pictures per item so I have to break it up this way when an item requires more pics to show it properly, they still don't do it justice!).

This set consists of a tablecloth measuring 84 by 206 inches and 12 matching napkins 25 by 28 inches. The hems are all hand stitched, the tablecloth was custom hand loomed to be this size, NOT cut from a bolt, the damask pattern has trefoil flowers and large leaves and stems with berries around the edges with holly and berries scattered over the center, the tablecloth has 2 large monograms that read CG, the napkins have the same monogram centered in the bottom 3rd of each one. The tablecloth has 2 tiny stains at the very edge and a little nibble on the edge (these are hard to see and of these show when the cloth is on the table) 4 napkins have small faint-light stains, the set is otherwise in excellent condition, I have washed and pressed it. Tablecloth, linen homespun This is a beautifully woven homespun linen tablecloth. This cloth has seen much use (it must have been someones favorite!), it still has lots of use left in it, but there are some stains and a couple pinhead holes. This was made from 2 sections of fabric hand sewn in a center seam, However it was woven specifically to be this tablecloth. The main body of the cloth is of one pattern of weave and there is a boarder all the way around the cloth 7 inches wide of another pattern. If you love homespun and don't require perfection, you will like this cloth. Size 57 inches square.
